RealCode-Nexus – Real-Time Collaborative Code Editor

A real-time collaborative code editor where multiple users join rooms and write code together with live synchronization and multi-language support.

Overview

RealCode-Nexus is a room-based collaborative coding platform built with React and Socket.IO. Users create or join rooms via unique IDs and edit code together in real time with every keystroke synced across all participants. Supports 7 programming languages with synchronized language switching, late-joiner code sync, and a connected-users sidebar.

Key Achievements

Built real-time code synchronization using Socket.IO with room-based event broadcasting across all connected clients.

Implemented late-joiner sync and synchronized language switching across 7 languages with starter code snippets.

Designed a single-server architecture with Express serving the React SPA and Socket.IO sharing the same HTTP server.
